Wannabe Twins

These two enjoy dressing like each other.
Baseball caps and underwear.  What else do you really need to wear?
The "gangsta" look.  She has a diaper under her underwear.  Not even close to being ready to potty train.
Hugs.

Daily Life

Lately our lives have been filled with babies and basketball.
Selah loves her babies and usually has one with her at all times.
Ephraim is playing in a 3/4 year old basketball league and loves it.  His basketball gets a lot of use since he has a hoop in his room.
Score!
Babies and basketball together.

Breakfast Outside

From February 5th

It was sunny and warmish this morning.  Forrest was getting the smoker ready for our Superbowl party that afternoon and the kids wanted to be out there with him.
So - they ate breakfast outside.
Seems like a completely reasonable thing to do on a February morning.

Delivery Day

Look at what was delivered early this morning? Nothing like being woken up at 4:30 because your dog is barking like crazy at the poor milkman.
I am super excited to start having milk and eggs delivered every week.  I am paying more for milk than I would at a grocery store, but there are so many benefits.  #1 - the milk is fresher.  30 hours from cow to my door rather than 2 weeks from cow to store.  #2 - I am hoping that by having basics delivered that I will save money by not going to the store.  I would often go to Costco for milk and eggs  - and I would spend extra money.
I have also started doing Bountiful Baskets.  Look it up and see if there is one near you!  Two weekends ago I picked up my first "basket".  15 dollars for 7 apples, 1 pineapple, 2 pears, 1 carton of strawberries, 5 pounds of potatoes, 1 head of romaine lettuce, 3 things of celery, 3 broccoli heads, 7 little red bell peppers, 3 yellow onions, 3 tomatoes, a bunch of radishes and two bunches of asparagus.

I am hoping that our grocery budget will be going down and our intake of whole foods will increase!

More Hats

I might be obsessed with making hats.  After making two for my friend late last week - I spent the next few days making four more.
I am still working on figuring out my stitch gauge - I think I crochet loosely so the hats are a little big.
Ephraim loves his football hat though.
And Selah thinks she is really cute in hers.

I made this grey hat for my aunt Laura.
This tiny hat is going to be donated (once I make a bunch more) to our local Children's Hospital NICU.
Right now Selah is using it on her favorite baby.

Sprinkle Sandwiches

Sprinkle Sandwiches AKA Peanut Butter and Jelly dipped in sprinkles.

These lovelies make a weekly appearance at our lunch table.
My kids would never eat PB&J before and now they do.

Hmm.....

I hesitate to post these pictures - but I think the world needs to see what is not an uncommon occurrence at our house.

1st picture - no big deal right?  Two cute kids sitting together.  (and look - they actually have clothes on!)
2nd picture tells the whole story.  They dumped out all their toys (Ephraim calls it "making soup") and climbed to the top of the bookshelf.  This bookshelf is not super sturdy.  It can actually be folded up - not secure enough for two wily children to sit on.
They were pretty proud of themselves though.

A New Hobby

I recently decided that I needed to be more productive while I was watching tv at night. So - I taught myself to crochet. I have made a couple of dishcloths, but a few days ago decided to try making hats.
These two hats are for my sweet friend Lyndsey.  She is due any day with baby #3 and I thought matching hats for big sister and new baby was a fun idea.
I apologize to big brother though...I didn't make him a hat.

Caught

It's a good thing these two like each other...

And then there was ice...

The ice storm we had a few weeks ago was crazy.  The ice was thick on all the tree branches - causing everything to bend.

These are the arborvitae in our backyard.  I dislike them immensely and was not sad to see half of them bent over.
A flowering berry tree that usually stands above the fence line.

A frozen left over berry.
A branch that had fallen on our shed.
My rhododendrons looking a little sad.
Our neighbor's tree.  She ended up losing it and now there is just a small stump.  You can't see them, but hiding under the branches are her trashcans.
Another neighbor's tree.  See the giant bare spot in the middle?
It is because all of the branches are on the ground.
The kids and I played in the snow in our front yard the day I took these pictures - and it was loud.  You could hear all of the snow falling and limbs breaking off of trees on the hill behind our house.

Chillin'

During the Snow week - our power went out. On Wednesday, it began to rain and later that night began to snow again - creating large amounts of ice. Our power went out Wednesday night around 8 and stayed out until about 5PM on Thursday. We were one of the lucky ones - we know friends who were without power for 6 days.
The kids were cold - it was 60 degrees in our house - and bundled up under blankets drinking tea that Daddy had made in his JetBoil.  (Best invention ever - you all should buy one.  Heats water in about a minute).  We went out and bought some logs for our wood stove and tried to keep the house slightly warm.  We were glad the power came back on - but were having fun with our adventure.

Playing in Snow

From Mid January, 2012
For those that don't know - the Seattle area was hit with a large for us snow storm in mid -January.  At our house we got 5 inches.

The kids and I had a blast playing in the snow.  We would get bundled up at minimum twice a day and play outside.  We had snow for about a week - which was a lot of fun.   All of these pictures are from one of the first days of snow.  We got more later in the week.
Selah's outfit.  Someone gave us this circa 1980's snowsuit.  It makes her look ginormous.  She doesn't own snowboots, so she wore her pink rainboots.  I also love the navy hat and purple gloves.  It is quite the style.
Making snow angels.

I made this snowman and then they let it stand long enough for me to take a picture.  It was then knocked to the ground.

Eating snow.
I think it was Selah's favorite part.
Throwing snowballs at the fence.
