First Trip to the ER

From July 10th,

From the minute I found out I was having a boy, I knew that I would be making trips to the ER for bumps, bruises, broken bones. I did not forsee our first trip happening at 15 months of age however.

Ephraim got a cold mid week during our trip. By Thursday, the cold had traveled to one eye and it had started to swell. By early Friday evening his one eye was getting worse and the other eye was starting to get red. While at the reception, we decided we couldn't wait for morning and left after cake to go to the ER.

Ephraim wasn't fazed by the ER at all. We didn't get there until almost 10, but were taken back to a room within 5 minutes of arriving.
Two close ups of his eye. Poor baby.
Ephraim had fun playing with the spinning chair, didn't mind when they took his temperature rectally and kept trying to escape out of the curtains and run into the hallway.
They diagnosed him with an ear infection in both ears and conjunctivitis in his eye due to his cold. They sent us home with eye goop and an antibiotic. Our entire ER trip lasted less than an hour.

The Wedding

From July 10

At last a post on the reason we went to Wyoming. My cousin Alfred got married to a great family friend, Bailey Willcox. It was so much fun to see them get married and have Bailey join our family.

The wedding site. I don't know that you could ask for a prettier spot to get married.

Alfred, waiting for his bride.
My cousin Mike and Michelle walked in together. They had just done a little skip and were laughing at each other.
Bailey and her dad Lee.
All of the groomsmen.
A small tutorial on how to keep small children entertained at a wedding:
Feed them lots of snacks.
Let them play with things in their mouth (it keeps them quiet)
Drink water. My small child was in the back with his dad playing in the buckets they had full of ice and water bottles.
I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Godfrey!
We walked along the river dike to the house where there were appetizers and drinks while the wedding party took pictures.
This is the house where they served appetizers. Bailey nannied for this family for 3 years and they were gracious enough to open up their home for her wedding.
Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of the reception - due to me being more worried about my child's eye than taking pictures (see next post).

Float Trip

From early July:

The morning after the Bar J, Forrest, Erik and my cousin Mike got up at the crack of dawn to take a canoe trip on the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park.

They started off their morning by spotting a bear.
Don't worry, it's not a grizzly (no hump), but they were all very excited. I think that Erik lives to see bears.
The dam at Jackson Lake.
They saw a ton of river otters. I had to sort through about 100 pictures of river otters and came up with my three favorites.
Hello Mr. River Otter. Are you enjoying your breakfast of fish?
Lounging on a rock.
This is a crane. If Erik reads this post he can tell me exactly what type of crane it is.
Tons of pelicans.
Mt. Moran is on the left. For those that don't know, Forrest proposed to me on Jackson Lake underneath Mt. Moran 6 years ago.
My sweet hubby.

My cousin Mike took all of these pictures and I love how clear this one is of the pelican taking off.
The boys had a blast floating down the river. Erik went to work after their float, and Forrest and Mike joined the wedding party for a hike up to Hidden Falls.

Bar J Chuckwagon

From early July:

One of the pre-wedding festivities was to go to the Bar J Chuckwagon. I love the Bar J. The food is good, and the entertainment is great. You get served "chuckwagon" food on tin plates (I chose chicken, Forrest chose steak) that includes beans, applesauce, biscuits, and spice cake. Ephraim actually ate quite a bit which was impressive.

After dinner comes the show. Ephraim was so sleepy, but couldn't keep his eyes from the show.
One of my favorite parts is when Brian comes out dressed all silly and sings a song.
It is great cowboy music and if you are in Jackson during the summer, I highly recommend attending.

Summer fun

From early July:
Is there really such a thing as too many pictures of naked buns? After Ephraim and Sadie's time in the fountain we took them over to the pool and water table. They stripped down to nothing and played for a while.

When Elisa woke up from her nap she wanted to strip down to nothing too!

Playing in the Fountain

From early July:

While we were in Jackson, Forrest spent a lot of time working on the island. Colleen and I took Ephraim and Sadie out there to check on his progress and they found the fountain.

They had a bunch of fun playing in the water and allowing the frog to squirt them.
We had to stop once we realized there was a small ant hill in the fountain and the water was causing them to come out and they were climbing all over Sadie.

(I hope I am no longer in trouble Michelle)
